The Omron M7 Intelli IT with AFib detection is Omron's top model upper arm blood pressure monitor. The blood pressure monitor was introduced on the Dutch market in January 2020. This improved model is the successor of the Omron M7 Intelli IT blood pressure monitor series 2015 – 2019. The blood pressure monitor looks different from the old series. The screen is now elongated and a lot bigger. This makes more useful information visible. To the right of the clear display you will find the current blood pressure reading. On the left side of the screen you will find the previous measurement. This makes comparison easy. The display is very useful when viewing the memory and calculating the weekly morning and evening averages.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT is easy in use. As soon as the cuff is connected, you can start a blood pressure measurement at the push of a button. If you keep the button pressed for more than 3 seconds, the 3-fold measurement mode is activated. A 3-fold measurement is more accurate than a single blood pressure measurement. With a 3-fold measurement the blood pressure monitor will automatically take 3 measurements in a row. There are 30 seconds of rest between each measurement. Should one of the measurements be incorrect, a 4th measurement will automatically be taken. At the end of the measurements, the display will show the average blood pressure value.
If you start measuring in the 3-fold measurement mode the blood pressure monitor will automatically check for signs of atrial fibrillation. This is called AFib detection. Atrial fibrillation is an irregular heart rhythm that can eventually cause a stroke. Therefore, AFib technology is also called stroke prevention. If atrial fibrillation is detected, it will be displayed on the screen with a symbol. This is not something to immediately worry about. If the symbol appears regularly, it is recommended to consult your doctor. The AFib detection has an accuracy of 94,2%.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT is a clinically validated blood pressure monitor. The blood pressure monitor complies with the strict ESH 2010 protocol. You can therefore assume that the measurements are reliable when used correctly. It is recommended by the Heart Foundation to use a blood pressure monitor that has been clinically validated.
The blood pressure monitor has 2 personal profiles. Each profile can be used by another person. This is useful if you want to measure with your partner. Each user profile has 100 memory spaces. If you have connected the blood pressure monitor to your smartphone, you have an unlimited amount of memory spaces on your smartphone at your disposal. In addition to a memory function, you can also choose the guest mode. A measurement within guest mode is not recorded in memory.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT has the ability to calculate various averages. The average of the last 3 measurements in the past 10 minutes (both automatic and manual), and the weekly average of the morning or evening measurements. By using averages you will know more accurately what the blood pressure is. The morning average is the average of the measurements taken in the morning (4:00 - 9:59) from Sunday to Saturday. The 2 or 3 measurements taken in the morning within the first 10 minutes between 4:00 and 9:59 are used to calculate the morning average for each day. If the morning weekly average is above 135/85 mmHg, then it indicates that you have morning hypertension. The blood pressure monitor will then indicate this with a symbol. The evening average is the average of the measurements taken in the evening (19:00 - 1:59) from Sunday to Saturday. The 2 or 3 measurements taken in the evening within the last 10 minutes between 19:00 PM and 1:59 PM are used to calculate the evening average for each day.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT is also equipped with a heart rate monitor with irregular heart rate detection. If an irregular heartbeat is detected, this will be indicated with a symbol. You will also find a cuff wrapping guide and motion sensor on the blood pressure monitor. The cuff wrapping guide indicates whether the cuff has been properly attached. The motion sensor shows whether there was movement during the blood pressure measurement.
The blood pressure monitor comes with the preformed Omron Intelliwrap cuff. This cuff (HEM-FL31) is appreciated by many people because it is very comfortable. A preformed cuff feels like a somewhat harder tube that can be applied by the user himself. You actually slide the tube over the arm. The advantage of a preformed cuff is that the measurement is more accurate than a measurement with a flexible cuff. A traditional flexible cuff measures at only 1 point on the upper arm. The Omron Intelliwrap cuff measures 360 degrees around the upper arm. The cuff is suitable for upper arms with the size medium and large. This corresponds to an upper arm circumference of between 22 and 42 centimeters. This is suitable for most people. A smaller (<22 centimeters) or larger (> 42 centimeters) size is not available.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT uses the patented Omron Intellisense ™ technology. This technology ensures that the cuff is never over-inflated. The cuff is inflated precisely to the level to get an accurate reading. Due to this pumping technique, the cuff feels pleasant when it is inflated.
The Omron M7 Intelli IT upper arm blood pressure monitor has the option to connect to the Omron Connect app. This is done through a Bluetooth connection. The Omron Connect app gives you a complete picture of all measured values. This allows you to view the measured values graphically in a simple way. In addition, you can export the data and share it with your doctor.
If you want the same model but without the smartphone functionality, we recommend that you look at the Omron M6 Comfort blood pressure monitor. That is exactly the same blood pressure monitor, only it cannot be connected to your smartphone.
